Kings Dominion 2010?

It appears as though Kings Dominion in Virginia is planning a new roller coaster, possibly for as as soon as 2010.

In documents filed with the local planning offices we can see that a new roller coaster is planned, but that's about as much info as we can gather.

The news coincides with some new land clearing that can been seen at the park behind the Anaconda coaster, and also behind Flight of Fear (that area can be seen above). A new plaza for a big coaster sure would fit nice next to Outer Limits... just think Firehawk at Kings Island.

More Park Openings II

Another weekend, and plenty more park openings! The weather has really not been cooperative for park openings thus far though, hopefully it'll get better in the coming weeks!

SFGAm Zone has lots of great photo trip reports from Six Flags Great America's opening day, which was yesterday. Sadly the park closed today due to a winter weather advisory! But still, check out all the photos like the one above of the still under construction Buccaneer Battle.

Six Flags Great Adventure also opened for the 2009 season yesterday, and AmusementPics.com has a very in depth photo report that can be found here. Lots of positive changes were made at this park again this year!

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has already been open for the season, but the park's new Sesame Street Forest of Fun land just opened this past weekend. Coastercrew has plenty of photos from the area's media event. Looks like a lot of fun!

Kings Dominion is also now open for business. It appears as though El Dorado opened for the crowds, but the Americana ferris wheel was not quite ready (see above). Photobucket user Kinginkd posted a massive set of photos taken from this weekend.

Kings Dominion opens for the 2009 season April 4th, and the park is working hard to finish up their two new rides being opened this summer.

Americana and El Dorado are both now standing, and KDFansite has the photos to prove it. I really love Americana's location, it fits with that area of the park so well and should provide some amazing photographs! (if that's allowed, of course)

Kings Dominion looks almost ready to install their two new rides for the 2009 season, Americana and El Dorado.

KDFansite has posted some recent photos taken inside the park showing off the construction progress so far. It actually looks like the first parts of the base for Americana are in place so that should be going up quickly.

Both of the new flat rides were moved from the now closed Geauga Lake amusement park in Ohio.
