I do want to know!

 2009 carowindsflyer

Carowinds has taken the next step of teasing park guests about what they are removing the park's log flume for: adding signs and peep holes on the construction fences!

User Carowindsflyer has a huge gallery of shots taken at the park that show the removal of the log flume and the associated work from multiple vantage points. Be sure to go through the whole gallery as construction shots can be found throughout.

The park is officially still mum about the project, all that we know for sure at this point is that it's a new roller coaster.

The Flume Is Gone - A Limerick

Carowinds' Log Flume once sat here,
but the park needed the space to be clear,

So they got out the bull dozer,
and ran the thing over,

It's sad but you'll all love it next year!

Carolina Cobra Opened Today

 2009 MaximAgency

Carowinds opened for the 2009 season today and premiered their new coaster, the Carolina Cobra.

A user on the Carowinds Connection forums was invited to the coaster's media day and posted a great photo report of the event. Early reports are that the new trains the ride received are great and are much better in the rider comfort area.

Check out the full report here.

Be One of the First

Carowinds now has a live auction going for riders on the first train ever of the Carolina Cobra, which will open with the park on March 28th.

The auction information can be accessed here, and all befits go to the Make A Wish Foundation. Kings Island is having quite a success with their Diamondback first ride auction, so hopefully Carowinds can drum up similar support.

A Cobra and a Nighthawk

Carowinds has uploaded some new photos of the Carolina Cobra's new trains on the track ready to be tested. I hope the reviews of the new style of trains are good once the ride opens! Boomerangs do not have the best reputation for rider comfort.

Here are those photos.

The park also released some new photos of the new paint job for Nighthawk which I think looks wonderful. The ride really stands out now.
